Taylor Heinicke Named TSN Co-Offensive National Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. -- Sophomore quarterback Taylor Heincike earned a host of national honors on Monday after setting a slew of records in completing 55-of-79 passes for 730 yards and five touchdowns to go with 61 rushing yards and a score on the ground in Saturday's 64-61 win over New Hampshire.
With Saturday's performance, the Monarch sophomore now owns Division I records with 791 yards of total offense and 730 yards passing while coming up just six yards shy of breaking college football's slngle-game passing mark. Heinicke also established new school records with 79 pass attempts, 55 completions, 730 passing yards and 791 total offensive yards.
Heinicke was named The Sports Network's Co-Offensive National Player of the Week, his second national award from The Sports Network this season and fourth from the organization in his career. He earned National Offensive Player of the Week honors following Week One against Duquesne which saw Heinicke pass for 492 yards, including four touchdown passes, and then school record 41 completions. He also was named TSN's National Rookie of the Week accolades twice last season following performances against Richmond and Norfolk State in the first round of the FCS playoffs.
The sophomore signal caller also earned National Performer and Quarterback of the Week from the College Football Performance Awards and picked up his second straight College Sporting News All-Star honor.
