No. 25 ODU Welcomes American on Senior Night Monday

NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 25 Old Dominion wrestling team will welcome American University to the Ted Constant Center for their final home match of the year on Monday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

Old Dominion is coming off a 34-9 win over N. C. State on Tuesday. The win improved the Monarchs record to 9-4-1 overall and 5-1 at the Constant Center.

Redshirt freshman Brennan Brumley picked up ODU's biggest win of the evening, topping No. 20 Bobby Ward at 149-pounds. ODU won eight of the 10 matches, including technical fall victories from senior Jesse Strawn and sophomore Joe Budi.

American, which has won five straight matches to improve to 7-6 on the year, features four ranked wrestlers. Steve Fittery and Mike Cannon are ranked No. 4 at 157-pounds and 184-pounds respectively, while Kyle Borshoff is No. 11 at 149-pounds and Jasen Borshoff is No. 16 at 125-pounds.

Three Monarchs are current ranked in the top-15 nationally, including No. 7 James Nicholson. The redshirt junior is 26-1 on the year at 125-pounds. No. 14 Jesse Strawn and No. 13 Chris Brown were both victorious against the Wolfpack with Strawn winning via technical fall and Brown registering his team-high ninth major decision win.

The match will be the final home bout for four ODU seniors: Brown, Eric Decker, Strawn and Cam Watkins. The group will be recognized prior to the start of the match.
