Women's Soccer Releases 2012 Schedule

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's soccer opens the season at home against NC State and plays five-straight home games to start September to highlight the Lady Monarchs 2012 slate, head coach Joe Pereira announced Tuesday.
The Lady Monarchs host the season opener against the Wolfpack on Friday, August 17 before hitting the road for three-straight contests. ODU travels to East Carolina August 22, Hartford on August 26 and Radford August 31 to cap the road trip.
Old Dominion returns for five-consecutive home contests to start September, with all five games against Virginia foes. ODU begins the stretch on Sept. 2 against Liberty before VMI comes to Norfolk on Sept. 9. ODU is 5-0 all-time against Liberty and has played VMI just once, defeating the Keydets 4-1 in 2010. The Lady Monarchs take on Richmond Sept. 14 before hosting James Madison in the CAA opener Sept. 20. Old Dominion caps off the homestand also with its final non-conference game of the year against VCU Sept. 23.
After its longest homestand since 1997, ODU hits the road for two-straight at Towson Sept. 28 and George Mason Sept. 30 before returning home to face Georgia State Oct. 4. The Lady Monarchs travel to UNCW Oct. 7 and return to host Drexel Oct. 11.
ODU travels to Delaware Oct. 14 and hosts its final two home games of the regular season against Hofstra on Oct. 19 and Northeastern Oct. 21 before ending the season at William and Mary Oct. 24.
Pereira begins is 18th season as head coach of the Lady Monarchs and returns six starters from last seasons squad.
