ODU Defeats UMES, 74-49

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University junior forward Jonathan Adams scored a career high 13 points and freshman Ben Finney added a career Nine points, five assists and 10 boards to lead the Monarchs to a 74-49 victory Over Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday night. All 11 Monarchs who played scored Atleast one point on the night.
ODU shot 50 (30-60) percent from the floor and outrebounded the Hawks, 39-30. Adams was six-for-nine from the floor and he dished out three assists. Finney made his first start as a collegiate start tonight, hitting three field goals, One trey and two free throws. He also came up with a steal.
Senior co-captain Abdi Lidonde came off the bench to score 11, hitting Four-of five from the floor and three treys.
The game was tied at 14-14 with 11:03 left in the first half on a UMES basket by Ed Tyson. Lidonde then hit two straight treys along with a basket by Frank Hassell And the Monarchs lead was up to eight at 22-14 with 7:24 left in the half. ODU took A ten-point halftime lead at 31-21.
The Monarchs forced the Hawks into 18 turnovers while only committing ten. Brandon Johnson led ODU with three steals. Johnson also hauled down six rebounds and dished out four assists.
UMES was led by Ed Tyson wit 19 points, followed by Marc Davis with 10. Denzel Jackson led the Hawks with nine boards, followed by Aleksandar Popovic With eight.
The Monarchs break for exams, then host Virginia Tech next Sunday afternoon (Dec. 16) at 4 p.m.
