Men's Tennis Defeats Dartmouth

NORFOLK, VA -- The #75 Old Dominion men's tennis team improved to 7-3 on the year recording a 6-1 win over Dartmouth over the weekend. The Monarchs took home all three doubles matches and won five of their six singles matches.
Senior Patrik Binkowsi and sophomore Izak van der Merwe won the first of three doubles match-ups for the Monarchs posting a 8-4 win over the Big Green's David Webb and Andres Reyes at No. 1 doubles. Junior Zoltan Csanadi and senior Salman Mohammed followed with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Logan West and Priya Sahu. The Monarch wrapped up doubles play with an 8-5 victory by junior Calin Milos and rookie Adriano Mello at No. 3 doubles over John Bois and Raj Shrestha.
In singles action, sophomore Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa) used a 6-3, 6-3 win over David Webb at No. 1 singles. Junior Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) used a 6-3, 6-3 match over the Big Green's Andres Reyes for a win at No. 2 singles. Senior Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden) playing at No. 3 singles, posted a hard fought 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 victory over Raj Shrestha. Senior Salman Mohammed (Calcutta, India) was victorious over John Bois, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles and junior Niklas Oskarsson edged out Logan West, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
The Monarch men's tennis team will return to action this week against East Tennessee State, Alabama-Birmingham, and Virginia.
