Former Lady Monarch Qualifies for Main Draw

Melbourne, Australia -- Former Old Dominion women's tennis player Tzipi Obziler recently qualified for the main draw of the 2000 Australian Open held January 17-29 in Melbourne, Australia.

Obziler qualified for the main draw with a victory over former Duke and NCAA Champion Vanessa Webb in the final round of qualifying play. In the first round of the main draw, Obziler fell to Mexico's Angelica Gavaldon -- 6-4, 4-6 6-4.

While at Old Dominion, Obziler was the National Clay Court Champion and ranked the #1 player in the country by the ITA during the fall of 1995.
