Monarchs Even CAA Mark With 6-1 Win Over JMU

Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion University men's tennis team improved to 14-7, 2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 6-1 win over visiting James Madison Sunday night at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.

The Monarchs captured momentum from the outset, sweeping all three doubles matches by the scores of 8-6, 8-5 and 8-6 to secure the doubles point.

In singles action ODU won five of six matches, four coming in straight sets.

1. Seleznev/Igarashi (ODU) def. Tarr/Smith (JMU) 8-6

2. Fawcett/Gehrke (ODU) def. Cambell/Rubenstein (JMU) 8-5

3. Souza/Fanselow (ODU) def. Robinson/Voznenko (JMU) 8-6

1. Alex Seleznev (ODU) def. Jesse Tarr (JMU) 6-3, 6-1

2. Eidy Igarashi (ODU) def. Mike Smith (JMU) 6-4, 3-6, 6-2

3. Jared Robinson (JMU) def. Tobias Fanselow (ODU) 7-6(5), 5-7, (12-10)

4. Rodrigo Souza (ODU) def. Brian Rubenstein (JMU) 6-3, 6-1

5. Matt Fawcett (ODU) def. Yaroslov Voznenko (JMU) 6-0, 6-2

6. Timo Gehrke (ODU) def. Carlin Campbell (JMU) 6-3, 6-4
