NORFOLK, Va. -- After nearly two weeks off since their last match, the 19th ranked Monarchs wrestling team will travel to Hempstead, New York for the CAA Tournament this weekend. Conference Tournament Time
In 2008 the Monarchs have passed milestone after milestone and they don't plan on stopping at the CAA Tournament. This weekend, Old Dominion will attempt to dethrone the Hofstra Pride, who have won six straight CAA crowns. The `08 probables boast some of the best credentials heading into the tournament in program history as ODU hunts for its first CAA title since 1994.

Also on the list of goals for the Monarchs is qualifying as many individuals for the NCAA Tournament as possible. In the final CAA rankings of the year, ODU boasts a ranked wrestler in every weight class including five of the ten starters ranking either first or second in their respective class.

The tournament is set to begin on Friday, March 7 at 1:00 pm. Wrestling will continue through Friday night with the first round consolations and begin Saturday, March 8 at 10:00 am with the second round consolations. The Championship bouts are slated for 5:00 pm on Saturday with True Second matches immediately following.

Best Dual Season in 25 Years
The Monarchs finished the 2007-08 dual season with the best mark in head coach Steve Martin's short career, at 17-3 overall. It is the second best mark in the modern era for ODU, second to only the NCAA East Regional Championship team of 1983-84, who posted a 20-3-1 record. The 17 wins ranks as second most in the 51 years of Old Dominion wrestling.
