Jacobs Named First Team All-State

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion sophomore midfielder Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) added to her long list of awards for the 2005 season as she was named First Team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Director's Association (VaSID).
A First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) pick, Second Team All-South Region selection, and a CAA Player of the Week honoree, Jacobs led the Lady Monarchs in four statistical categories including assists (18), points (45), groundballs (51), and caused turnovers (25) and ranked second on the squad in goals (27) and draw controls (21). She netted a career-high six goals against #9 North Carolina, scooped up a career-high six groundballs against #20 William & Mary and James Madison, and caused a career-high five turnovers against #20 William & Mary. Additionally the second-year midfielder captured a career-high seven points at Temple and netted the game-winning goal against Rutgers.
Jacobs concluded the season ranked fourth nationally in groundballs per game at 3.64 per contest. Among the conference statistics, she ended the year ranked 10th in goals per game (1.93), fourth in assists per game (1.29), seventh in points per game (3.21), third in caused turnovers per game (1.79), and topped the charts in groundballs.
