Box Score

NORFOLK, VA--Senior Edson Elcock (Brooklyn, NY) scored two first half goals to lead 24th ranked Old Dominion (12-4-1/7-3-1) to a 2-1 victory over William and Mary (8-8-3/4-4-3) in a Colonial Athletic Association match which was televised live on FoxSports Soccer Channel. Elcock broke the 0-0 deadlock 20 minutes into the match when he broke free for the first score. Five minutes later Ross Mackenzie (Midlothian, VA.) fed Elcock on a break and he pushed it passed the Tribe keeper to give the Monarchs a 2-0 lead at halftime. Elcock now has ten goals with five assists for 25 points.

The Tribe cut into the lead with less than ten minutes remaining as Pat Scherder scored his ninth goal of the year on an assist from Doug Ernst for the Tribe. It was Ernst's ninth assist of the season. Both goalkeepers, Brennan Wergley (WM) and Evan Newton (ODU-Va.Beach) had four saves on the evening.

ODU will host a CAA quarterfinal match on Tuesday night, Oct. 31 against an opponent to be named later. The CAA championship semi-finals and finals will be at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, Nov. 3 & 5.
