Lady Monarchs Earn All State, All Mid-Atlantic Honors
By ODU Athletics
Junior Jen Henley (Chalfont, PA), the 2000 CAA Co-Player of the Year, was named to the second team All Mid-Atlantic squad after a season which saw her break almost every record in the ODU books. Henley was the top scorer in the CAA with 41 points and was named to the All-CAA first team in addition to earning co-player of the year.
She is making an appearance on the All Mid-Atlantic squad for the second time in three years after being named to the third team in 1998.
Joining Henley on the Mid-Atlantic honor roll is junior defender Andi Rowe (Fairfax, VA), who was selected as a third team pick. Rowe earned first team All-CAA honors this season and was a second team regional honoree in 1999.
Both Henley and Rowe were selected to the VaSID (Virginia Sports Information Directors) All-State first team along with fellow teammate Melanie McGovern (Somerdale, NJ), who earned a second team nomination. McGovern led the CAA in goals scored (16) and broke the Old Dominion record for single season goals in 2000. The Virginia All-State teams are voted upon by the sports information directors at all Virginia universities. Schools represented in the voting are from the Colonial Athletic Association, Atlantic Coast, and Big South conferences.
