LARAMIE, WY--Katie Watson's (Woodbridge, VA.) goal with eight minutes left in the second overtime period lifted the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion (6-0) to a 1-0 victory over the University of Wyoming (1-4-1) Sunday afternoon.
The 6-0 start is the best in school history and one victory shy of the team's longest winning streak of seven which was set last year. The 1998 team won their first five matches.
After 102-plus minutes of play, Heather Vaughan (Virginia Beach, Va.) gathered a loose ball and fed Watson for the game winner. Watson is now tied with Shavon Knight (Waldorf, MD.) for the team lead in goals (eight) and points (18).
Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Tupman had three saves on the day and picked up her third straight shutout and fourth complete shutout of the season. She also shares one shutout with teammate Colby Owen (Virginia Beach, VA.).
ODU returns home this weekend to play Campbell at 7 p.m.
