TOWSON, Md. - The No. 1 Old Dominion field hockey team will play games three and four of a five-game road swing this weekend at Colonial Athletic Association rivals Towson and Drexel.
The Lady Monarchs (12-0, 3-0 CAA), the nations lone undefeated team, will take on the Tigers Friday at 6 p.m. and then battle the Dragons on Sunday at 12 noon.
Old Dominion enters the weekend ranked second in the country allowing just 0.81 goals a game. After two shutout wins last week over Richmond and Delaware, the Lady Monarchs have now held opponents scoreless for over 158 consecutive minutes over the last three contests.
Towson enters Friday with a 6-5 overall record and a 1-2 mark in league games. The Tigers posted their first shutout victory since Sept. 10, 2010 Sunday as they defeated Radford 2-0. Towson dropped a 4-2 decision at Virginia earlier this season in its lone game against a ranked opponent.
Drexel, which ranks No. 20 in the latest RPI rankings, sits at 8-4 overall and 2-1 in CAA play. The Dragons have lost two of their last three after starting the year 7-2. Drexel is 0-3 against ranked teams thus far, but was narrowly defeated against No. 11 California, 3-2, Sunday in overtime.
Old Dominion topped Drexel last season in double overtime to win its 14th CAA Title.
