Lady Monarchs Are on the Road For Final Week of Regular Season

NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion women's soccer team play their final two regular season games on the road this week, traveling to Richmond Thursday night for a 7:00 meeting with Virginia Commonwealth University, and meeting with UNC-Wilmington Saturday afternoon at 2:00. The Lady Monarchs are 8-6-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Heading into the game, ODU has 13 points in the CAA, tying for third with Delaware and two points out of first.
VCU is currently 11-6-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the CAA, one point behind ODU in the standings. The Lady Monarchs are 5-2-3 all-time against the Rams, winning a 1-0 decision last season at the ODU Soccer Stadium. VCU is a perfect 7-0 at home this season, and are led offensively by Senior Forward Jen Parsons' 32 points (13 goals, six assists) and Sophomore Midfielder/Forward Solfrid Andersen's 30 points (11 goals, eight assists). Defensively, goalkeeper Lauren Hardison has a 0.90 Goals Against Average in 15 games this season. The Rams are coming off a 3-2 loss to George Mason in Fairfax.
UNC-Wilmington is 10-5-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the CAA. The Seahawks, who started the season 9-0, are 5-1-1 at home. ODU is 8-3-1 all-time against UNC-Wilmington, battling them to a scoreless tie last year in Norfolk. Senior Forward Kristine Mengle leads the team in scoring with 22 points (10 goals, two assists) and Senior Midfielder Caroline Renkin, with 19 points (eight goals, three assists).
The Lady Monarchs saw their four game CAA winning streak get snapped last Sunday, dropping a 1-0 overtime decision to the Hofstra Pride. ODU is led in scoring by Junior Forward Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA), with 23 points (nine goals, five assists). Lisa McKenzie (Inverness, Scotland) leads all freshmen with 11 points (five goals, one assist). ODU is hoping to make the six-team CAA Tournament for the first time since the 2001 season.
