Monarch Golfers Second After Round Two Of CAA's

MANAKIN-SABOT, VA (April 15) - Old Dominion's golf team fired a second round 300 to move into a tie with James Madison for second place after 36 holes at the CAA Championships at Hermitage Country Club. The Monarchs, leaders after round one, are being paced by sophomore Michael Hospodar (Ontario, Canada) who followed up his first-round best score of 68 with a 76 on Saturday to fall into fifth-place.

Overall, Old Dominion continues to place three golfers in the top-12 as sophomore Steve Sokol (Oxford, CT) is alone in eighth-place at 146 after his second 73 in as many days, while CAA Rookie of the Year freshman Geoff Harris (Reading, England) is tied for ninth at 148 after firing a 76. Senior Gary Harper (Sidmouth, England) and freshman Stephen Richards (Bucks, England) are tied for 26th at 153.

Virginia Commonwealth leads the tourney at 585, followed by James Madison and Old Dominion at 587, Richmond at 594 and East Carolina and UNC Wilmington at 602. The Monarchs have never won the CAA Championships. Final round action continues on Sunday, with the first tee time at 7:40 am.
