ODU Hosts Elizabeth City State In Exhibition Game

NORFOLK, VA--The Old Dominion University Monarchs open their pre- season with an exhibition game against the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Ted Constant Convocation Center. There will be three experimental rules used in the contest.

This year's NCAA experimental rules are: Moving the three-point line nine inches behind the current line for a distance of 20 feet, 6 inches. Widening the free-throw lane by 1 ½ feet on each side. Placing a restricted area arc which is to be two feet from the center of the basket ring.

These experimental rules will be used in the following games. The exhibition games with Elizabeth City, and Carleton University, along with the Corpus Christi Challenge games which included Kent State, TCU, Shawnee State, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Elizabeth City State is a member of the NCAA Div. II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Shawn Walker is in his fourth year as head coach of the Vikings.
