COLLEGE STATION, Tex. -- The ODU men's doubles team of senior Aleksandr Seleznev (Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic) and sophomore Tobias Fanselow (Essen, Germany) were defeated in the first round of the NCAA Tennis Championships today. The ODU tandem fell to Geoff Chizever and Pedro Zerbini (California) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Seleznev and Fanselow, the top doubles team in the CAA, went down 2-0 in the first set, but rebounded in the third to pull within one. In the fourth game, ODU forced several deuce opportunities, including taking the advantage several times, but the Cal pair escaped with the win to go up 3-1.

The Monarchs won three of the next four to tie the first set at four games apiece, but the Chizevar and Zerbini won the next two and shutout the Monarchs in the second set to win.

It was just the seventh loss the pair took in doubles action all season, wrapping up the year with a 21-7 overall mark.
