FAIRFAX, Va. (February 6) -- Sophomore Okeisha Howard (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored a game-high 15 points to lead Old Dominion over George Mason, 73-64, in a Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball game in the Patriot Center. With the win, the Lady Monarchs picked up their 111th straight CAA win to improve to 13-7 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the conference. George Mason falls to 15-5 overall and 6-3 in the CAA.

Despite early foul trouble, including three starters with three or more fouls, four Lady Monarchs scored in double figures. Howard's 15 included 9-of-10 shooting from the line, while Spence finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Senior Hamchetou Maiga (Bamako, Mali) scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high four steals.

The freshman duo of Monique Coker (Bronx, NY) and Myriah Spence (Espanola, NM) had 10 and 13 points respectively.

George Mason would claw back into things with an 11-3 Patriot run with 7:05 remaining in the game, but the Lady Monarchs answered with their own 11-0 run in the next four minutes, and went on to win 73-64.

After the Patriots took their only lead of the game, 13-12 in the first half, Old Dominion responded with a three-pointer by Myriah Spence to reclaim the lead, 15-13. The Lady Monarchs led 34-27 at the half, and would not trail again.

Old Dominion will begin the second half of the CAA season with a game at American Sunday afternoon. The Lady Monarchs return to the Fieldhouse Thursday, February 15 in a 7:35 pm contest against UNC-Wilmington.
