Soccer Monarchs Tie Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-1

Williamsburg, VA (Sept. 8) - The Old Dominion men's soccer team tied Fairleigh Dickinson University, 1-1, in the opening game of the William & Mary Tournament on Sept. 8.

Freshman forward Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) put the Monarchs on the board first at 31:33 on a penalty kick. The Knights would counter with the final score of the game on a goal by Johnny David at 51:54 in the second half. Old Dominion improves to 0-1-1 on the season while FDU moves to 2-0-1 on the year.

The Monarchs outshot FDU 20-13 and were tied in corner kicks with 8 each. Old Dominion goalkeeper Matt Landman (Beverly, MA) made eight saves in the game.

The Monarchs will play again on Saturday, September 9, in their second game of the tournament against Delaware.
