Six Wrestling Monarchs Nationally Ranked

NORFOLK, Va. - Six members of the Old Dominion wrestling team appeared in multiple national rankings released this week. As a team the Monarchs rank as high as No. 21 in those publications.

James Nicholson led the way, ranking No. 5 at 125-pounds in both the Intermat and Amateur Wrestling News listings. Senior Jesse Strawn also ranked in the Top 10 in all publications, placing as high as No. 8 in the Intermat rankings for 197-pounders.

Chris Brown and Kyle Hutter were the other two Monarchs ranked in all the publications. Brown ranked as high as No. 10 (WIN Magazine) at 165-pounds and Hutter was No. 16 in all three polls at 133-pounds.

Joe Budi, whose off to an extremely hot start to this season, appeared in the Intermat rankings at No. 16. Eric Decker is ranked No. 18 by WIN Magazine.

As a team Old Dominion is ranked No. 21 in both the Intermat and NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Monarchs are coming off a 21-19 loss at No. 12 Wisconsin.

Old Dominion returns to action this weekend at both the NC State Open and the Kaufman/Brand Open. Both events are slated for Saturday, Nov. 21.
