NORFOLK, Va. -- FootballScoop.com today announced ODU Football Offensive Coordinator Brian Scott as one of three finalists for D-1AA Coordinator of the Year.
The finalists for Division 1-AA Coordinator of the year are:
Sam Venuto - Villanova
Ray Priore - Penn
Bob Shoop - William & Mary
Brian Scott - Old Dominion
To read about the finalists, and to vote log on to FootballScoop.com. Voting will take place through Sunday December 13th. Winners will be announced beginning on December 14th.
Under Scott's leadership, the ODU offense finished third nationally in scoring offense averaging 35 points per contest and 18th nationally in total offense averaging just under 400 yards per game. Additionally, the Monarchs ranked second nationally in sacks allowed and ninth among all FCS schools in fewest turnovers on the year with 14. ODU's offensive efforts saw the Monarchs score 28 touchdowns in 39 red zone opportunities.
"A 9-2 final record, the most wins ever by a first year FCS program, a six-game winning streak to end the season, and a first-year program receiving votes in the top 25 in the country...words cannot describe the pride our team feels with these accomplishments," said head coach Bobby Wilder.
"The FootballScoop set of awards is unique from other "Coach of the Year" awards in that there is no other outlet that focuses on Position coaches and coordinators; whereas nearly every other "Coach of the Year" award is solely for a Head Coach. Additionally, to be considered for our awards, a coach has to have been nominated by one of his peers", said Scott Roussel, President of FootballScoop. Roussel added, "Over the past few years Muscle Milk® has become one of the most recognized names in sports nutrition and we're very proud to have them once again serve as the exclusive sponsor of these awards."
