Three Monarch Wrestlers Ranked In Preseason Polls

NORFOLK, VA - W.I.N. Magazine released its preseason NCAA Division I wrestling rankings for the 2005-06 season. In the October 10th poll, Old Dominion senior Adam Wright (Dayton, VA), a 2004 NCAA Qualifier, has been ranked 17th at 184 pounds. Last year Wright notched his second consecutive 30-win season on the way to a championship at the Virginia Intercollegiate State tournament and a runner-up finish at the Missouri Open at 184.
As in previous years, the W.I.N. rankings are based on who the editors think are currently the best individuals. The rankings are compiled after receiving feedback from the collegiate wrestling coaches.

Martin, the nephew of head wrestling coach Steve Martin and transfer from Illinois, was an NCAA qualifier in 2004 as well as a Big Ten placewinner. Last year he beat NCAA All-Americans Coyte Cooper of Indiana and Cory Cooperman of Lehigh recording an opening round fall over Cooperman in 26 seconds at the 2004 NCAA championships. Hansen, a graduate student transfer from Missouri, was a 2001 Intermat Honorable Mention All-American, and last year while at Missouri beat NCAA quarterfinalist Imad Kharbush of Stanford twice.
