NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University football team will be honored at halftime of the ODU vs. Georgia State basketball game Saturday night. The Monarchs take on Georgia State at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6 p.m.

The Monarchs won a school record 11 games in 2012 claiming the regular season CAA championship, despite not being eligible for the league crown and automatic bid due to joining Conference USA.

ODU earned the No. 4 seed in the FCS playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinals. The Monarchs ranked No. 6 in the final FCS The Sports Network and Coaches Polls.

The team will be recognized at halftime, while several players will be recognized for their accomplishments, including sophomore quarterback Taylor Heinicke, junior place kicker Jarod Brown and punter Jonathan Plisco. Heinicke will be showing off his Walter Payton Award for being named the Best Player in the FCS.

ODU placed 10 student-athletes on the CAA All-Conference teams led by Heinicke, who was Offensive Player of the Year.

Heinicke led the way again as six Monarchs earned All-America honors. Nick Mayers, Jack Lowney, Jonathan Plisco, Chris Burnette and Craig Wilkins joined Heinicke with the prestigious honors.

Heinicke, Dominique Guinn-Bailey, David Born and Jarod Brown will participate in a pre-game autograph session in the Raising Canes Guest Services Kiosk.
