NORFOLK, Va. -- Sophomore forward Titia Beek (Heiloo, Holland) was named Field Hockey's Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for the second time this season earning the accolade for the week ending September 30th.
Beek totaled a goal and two assists in Old Dominion's 2-0 week, which included shutout victories over Towson and No. 18 Delaware. Beek was one of two Lady Monarchs to lead the way with a goal and assist in Friday's 4-0 victory against the Tigers. She followed by assisting on the game-winning goal with 34 seconds left in regulation against the Fightin' Blue Hens.
Beek currently leads the team with 16 points stemming from four goals and a team-leading eight assists. She leads the CAA in assists and ranks 11th nationally.
The sophomore forward previously won weekly honors back on September 4th. Beek was credited with the assist on the lone Old Dominion goal against top-ranked and two-time defending national champion Maryland. She followed with two goals and an assist in ODU's 3-1 victory over Virginia in the Lady Monarchs' first victory of the season. Beek's first goal against Virginia proved to be the game-winner and was the first game-winner of her career.
The Lady Monarch field hockey team returns home to Foreman Field next weekend to host two CAA contests. Old Dominion hosts Hofstra on Saturday, October 6th and Drexel on Sunday, October 7th. Both games begin at 1:00 p.m. and admission is free. The Lady Monarchs are winners in their last five contests.
