From The Desk Of Bobby Wilder: Lucky Number Seven
Nov. 3, 2009
What a great feeling we all share together!! Win #7 vs. Georgetown puts your Monarchs in the record books!! We can all take pride in this wonderful accomplishment.
Saturday night was a special game for many reasons - Halloween, great crowd, and a team victory for your Monarchs. We started fast with our seventh touchdown in nine opening drives this season. Our defense had a dominant first half performance holding Georgetown to 39 yards on 31 plays. Our offense scored 31 points gaining 350 yards on 44 plays.
Our team was focused early and it showed with a 31-3 halftime lead. We were able to play our "back-up ones" for the majority of the 2nd half. We have now played 70 of the 87 players on our roster so far this season. This experience for our first year team will prove valuable as we continue to grow as a program.
This Saturday is a special day for many reasons - Homecoming, an opportunity to get our 8th win, and our first day game at Foreman Field and S.B. Ballard Stadium. Old Dominion University has done a great job planning events for all our students and Alumni this week.
Our team will be involved in the Pep Rally Friday night at 5:45 p.m beind the Ted Constant Center. We will be "Loud and Proud" for all of you as you have done for our team this season!! We hope to see you Friday night. If not, we look forward to seeing you Saturday on what we hope will be an historic day for Old Dominion!!
