2011-12 Women's CAA Championship In Review & Past CAA Champions

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to compete in the 2013 CAA Championships beginning on Wednesday, February 27. The 2013 CAA Championships will run for a total of four days and will conclude on March 2. All events are being held in the Jim McKay Natatorium on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

The Old Dominion men are currently 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the CAA. The Monarchs started out this season with a heartbreaking one-point loss to perennial CAA power, UNCW (177-176). Since then, ODU won four of their next six meets. In that span, the Monarchs defeated GMU, Towson, George Washington and William and Mary. The other two losses came against UMBC and East Carolina.

The Old Dominion women are 6-5 overall and 3-2 against conference opponents. The Lady Monarchs have defeated Richmond, UNCW, GMU, Northeastern, George Washington and Campbell. Their losses came against Towson, Rutgers, UMBC, East Carolina and William and Mary.

What You Need to Know:
Last year, the UNCW men won their 11th consecutive CAA title. The Monarchs placed fourth.

Last year, the JMU ladies won their first CAA title in school history. The Lady Monarchs placed fifth. The Lady Tigers of Towson have won four out of the last five CAA Championships.

Keep An Eye On:
Sidni Hoxha, the defending CAA champion in the 50 free, posted the top times in the CAA this season in the 50 (19.83), 100 (45.43) and 200 (1:37.55) free.

Kimberley Rashleigh enters the meet with the top times in the 200 (2:01.45) and 400 (4:14.26) IM this season.

Jessica Hubert holds the top times in the 100 (55.49) and 200 (1:58.86) fly this season.

Around the CAA:
Delaware: The men enter the meet 6-3 overall and 2-3 in the CAA, while the women enter 8-3 overall and 4-3 in conference competition.

Drexel: The men are 6-2 overall and 0-1 in conference competition and the women are 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

George Mason: GMU's men are currently 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action and the women are 5-6 overall and 0-5 in the CAA.

James Madison (Women): The Lady Dukes are 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Northeastern (Women): The Lady Huskies have posted an 8-7 overall mark and 2-3 conference record.

Towson: The Tiger men are 3-8 overall and 0-5 in conference competition and the women are 10-2 overall and 6-0 in conference action.

UNC Wilmington: The Wilmington men are currently 6-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The women are 2-11 and 0-4 in the conference.

William and Mary: The men are currently 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the CAA, while the women come into this meet 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
