Csanadi, Oskarsson, Binkowski Capture Titles at East Coast Championships

NORFOLK, VA -- Sophomores Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) and Niklas Oskarsson (Halmstad, Sweden) each won singles titles at the 2001 East Coast Collegiate Championships held at Old Dominion. Csanadi added one more title, winning the Flight A doubles crown along with teammate junior Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden).
Csanadi took home the Flight A singles title with a victory over American's Bence Hamori, while Oskarsson used a 6-4, 6-4 win over American's Guillaume Taralle in Flight C. In other singles action, Virginia Tech's Stephane Rod defeated Josh Procacci of American (6-3, 6-4) in the Flight B final and Richmond's Jeremy Howard was victorious over James Madison's Clint Morse (6-2, 6-1) in Flight D.
Csanadi and Binkowski captured the Flight A doubles title with a 8-6 win over James Madison's Andrew Lux and Tory Stone. In Flight B, Old Dominion's Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania) and Oskarsson reached the finals, but fell to David Emery and Rod of Virginia Tech, 8-5. The Flight C doubles crown was won by Richmond's Derek Schwandt and Dan Scrafford with a 8-3 victory over Virginia's Jay Curtis and Patrick Guarnieri.
The Monarch men's tennis team returns to action in two weeks at the South Carolina Invitational in Columbia, SC.
