Old Dominion Women's Tennis Sweeps U.S. Air Force Academy

NORFOLK, VA -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team improved to 8-5 on the season as they defeated the United State Air Force Academy 7-0 sweeping the singles and doubles competition. The Lady Monarchs lost just one set the entire afternoon.
Old Dominion took all six singles games. Sophomore Lara van Rooyen (Pretoria, South Africa) was the lone Lady Monarch to let up a set. Although van Rooyen dropped the second set, she defeated Laura Nigro, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, at second singles. First singles player sophomore Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) defeated Brooke Parsons 6-2, 6-3, while senior Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia) took home a 7-5, 6-3 win at third singles. Senior Mily Kannarkat (Va Beach, VA) gave up just one game at fourth singles handing Kelly O'Brian a 6-1, 6-0 loss. Junior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) was victorious, 7-5, 6-4, over Ashley Gee at fifth singles, 7-5, 6-4, and senior Patricia Araujo defeated Gina Black for a 6-4, 6-4 six singles victory.
In doubles play, Old Dominion won all three matches. The tandem of Cahana/Radeljevic used a 8-1 match to win at first doubles over Parson/Nigro. Kannarkat/Sotririu defeated Air Force's team of Shelby/Black at second doubles and van Rooyen/Araujo shutout O'Brian/Pomkie 8-0.
