Scott Festejo Wins 'CAA Wrestler of the Week' Award

NORFOLK, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced that Scott Festejo is the CAA Wrestler of the Week for all competition occurring during Jan. 22-28. Festejo went 2-0 last week in Old Dominion’s two victories over Binghamton (21-18) and Rider (24-11).
Festejo, a junior from Long Branch, N.J., defeated Derek Steeley (Binghamton) 6-4 on Friday, Jan. 25. Steeley is currently the third ranked wrestler in the CAA at 133-pounds. On Jan. 27, Festejo picked up another victory when he took down the No. 24 ranked wrestler in the country, Jimmy Morris (Rider), by a score of 5-2. Morris is currently the second ranked CAA wrestler at 133 pounds, only behind ODU’s Festejo.
Festejo is on a six-match win streak; his last loss came nearly three weeks ago at the Virginia Duals on Jan. 13. This week, Festejo is back in the national rankings at No. 30 within the 133-pound weight class. Festejo is currently 21-11 this season, while going 10-5 in dual meets and 5-0 in the CAA.
Old Dominion will be back in action on Feb. 3 against Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. at 1 p.m.
