ODU Sailors Claim Fifth at MAISA Team Racing Championship

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The 19th ranked sailing Monarchs of Old Dominion University finished with a fifth-place result at the MAISA Team Racing Championship last weekend. ODU posted five wins, including a victory over No. 7 Hobart/William Smith.

The ODU team was led this weekend by Patrick O'Bryan, Stephanie Roble, Kevin Shockey, Alan Alkins, Michael Komar, Wilson Stout, Dillon Paiva and Miles Martschink.

The Monarchs finished the event with a 5-9 record in the eight-team field and managed three wins in the second round robin. Old Dominion split matchups against King's Point, Hobart/William Smith and NY Maritime, while topping No. 17 Washington College twice.

Second ranked St. Mary's won the event and a trip to the ICSA Team Racing Championships.

ODU will now set sights on another action packed weekend April 17-18. The Monarchs will be competing in the America Trophy, MAISA Spring Open and Wick Shrew Regatta's.
