NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's soccer outshot Hartford 17-6, but the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie Friday night in the season opener at ODU Soccer Stadium.
Hartford got on the board in the 75th minute when Ameila Pereira sent a long pass down the right side to Arielle Aikens, who sent a shot from the right side into the net to knot the score at one.
The game remained tie heading into overtime, where ODU dominated, outshooting the Hawks 5-0, but unable to find the back of the night.

In the 50th minute ODU just missed a golden opportunity when Kate Kelly sent a pass to Bernardini, who fired a shot from 18 yards out that went off the cross bar.
Just three minutes later, the Hawks' Pereira fired a shot off the cross bar.
