ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Former Old Dominion sailing standout and 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Anna Tunnicliffe-Funk ('05) finished second at the 2009 Rolex Osprey Cup in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Italy's Giulia Conti claimed first in the event, which is one of only two ISAF Grade 1 women's match racing events in the U.S.

Along with crew Molly Vandermoer, Liz Bower (ODU '03) and former All-American and Olympian Debbie Capozzi (ODU '03), Tunnicliffe ended the double round robin match racing format with an 18-0 mark.

In the first semifinal, Tunnicliffe and her crew defeated Karin Hagström, (SWE), world #19, and crew Nina Bake, Emilie Lidén and Åsa Carlsson, 3-0.

Although Tunnicliffe defeated Conti during round robin racing, the final matches didn't go her way. The two split the first two races, but Conti would win the final two to seal her victory, 3-1.
