FROM THE DESK OF BOBBY WILDER - Loud & Proud Senior Day
Nov. 2, 2011
Thank you all for your incredible performance this past Saturday vs. James Madison.
You clearly made a difference in this football game with the way you inspired our team as well as the affect you had on the James Madison teams. The noise level was deafening when they had the ball and you forced them to use a number of time outs as well as get some five yard false start penalties on offense. When you started the "ODU" chant on their last drive of the game, everyone on our sideline, as well as our defense on the field, had what I would describe as an, "out of body experience."
This week we face another daunting challenge from a very good Richmond team. As I described to our players yesterday before practice, this is the best team I have seen in 24 years of coaching on a five game losing streak. A little over a month ago, Richmond was 3-0 and ranked as high as #3 in the nation in some of the polls. They have suffered three heartbreaking losses similar in nature to our 39-35 loss to Towson. They have lost to New Hampshire 45-43, Towson 31-28 on a field goal as the clock expired, and Maine 23-22 in a game they had a 16-0 lead entering the 4th quarter. All three of those teams they lost to are at the top of the CAA standings!
I would ask you to once again bring your "A" game Saturday at 2:00 p.m. as we face the Richmond Spiders on senior day. Thank you for all you do for your Old Dominion Monarch football team.
