NORFOLK, Va. - Senior attack Ashley Kellogg scored a season-high five goals and dished out a pair of assists to lead Old Dominion to a 14-9 win over Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon at the Powhatan Sports Complex.

Sophomore Lisa Bernardini continued her stellar play, scoring a goal and dishing out a career-high four assists in Lady Monarch victory. Bernardini has now tallied five goals and handed out seven assists in her last two games.

Junior Clara Flanagan and sophomore Sarah Wright contributed with two goals and an assist each.

Old Dominion improves to 1-2 on the year, while St. Joseph's falls to 2-7. The Lady Monarchs are 3-0 all-time against the Hawks.

ODU dominated the first half, out-shooting St. Joseph's 21-9. A 6-0 Lady Monarch run in the first 10:17 gave Old Dominion an early cushion. Five different Lady Monarchs scored during the spurt.

After a Hawks goal, ODU tallied the next three scores, capped by a Flanagan goal that gave the Lady Monarchs their largest lead of the game (9-1).

St. Joseph's scored three of the final four goals of the opening half to go into the break down 10-4.

The Hawks continued their end of the half momentum, scoring three straight goals out of the intermission. St. Joseph's outshot ODU 18-8 in the second half.

With the Lady Monarch lead cut to three (10-7) Kellogg and Wright registered consecutive scores to give ODU a five-goal advantage with less than 10 minutes remaining. The squads would exchange goals during the final minutes, but Old Dominion maintained its lead to garner its first win of the season.

ODU was led defensively by senior Saratu Dodo and sophomore Sarah Geary. Dodo caused a game-high five turnovers and Geary recorded 11 saves in the win.

Old Dominion now heads back on the road for a matchup against Longwood on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
