Women's Tennis Falls 2-5 To #26 Harvard

CHAPEL HILL, NC -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team fell to 2-6 on the year as they dropped at 2-5 decision to #26 Harvard over the weekend. Freshman Kerstin Endlich upset 85th ranked Alexis Martire at No. 3 singles (6-1, 2-6, 6-4) to pick up one of the Lady Monarchs' two points against the Crimson.
The Crimson women's tennis team featured five members ranked by the ITA in the first five singles positions.
Nataly Cahana (Quirat Bialik, Israel) earned the other Lady Monarch win with her 6-7, 6-1, 1-0 (8) win over #36 Courtney Bergman at No. 1 singles.
No. 68 Susanna Lingman defeated ODU's freshman Maretha Van Niekerk, 7-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and #58 Eva Wang defeated senior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany), 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Freshman Coralie Herrman lost to No. 112 Sanja Bajin, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5 singles and rookie Verena Munzinger fell 6-4, 6-4 to Melissa Anderson.
Harvard swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Crimson featured the 22nd ranked team of Courtney Bergman and Susanna Ligman at No. 1 doubles who defeated ODU's duo of Coralie Herrmann and maretha Van Niekerk, 8-3.
The Old Dominion women's tennis team will return at action hosting Brown on Saturday, March 8th at 1:00 p.m. in Norfolk.
