RICHMOND, VA. (March 28) -- Old Dominion (6-3, 3-1 CAA) overcame a three-goal halftime deficit to defeat conference foe Richmond (0-6, 0-2 CAA), 12-9 Wednesday afternoon in women's college lacrosse action. Lady Monarchs sophomore Suzanne Wosczyna tallied four goals and one assist for the visiting team.

Just over a minute into the contest, Old Dominion would score as CAA Player of the Week Wosczyna found the back of the net. Richmond would jump out the gates tallying the next four goals of the contest. The first of senior Alexis Brandolini's (Berwyn, Pa./Notre Dame Academy) three goals of the afternoon came at the 25:08 mark after she scored off a feed from classmate Jessica Popham (Arnold, Md./Severn School). Junior Tracy Ransome (Marlton, N.J./Moorestown Friends) registered her first goal of the season two minutes later to give Richmond a 2-1 advantage. Sophomore Katie Dolan (Towson, Md./Towson) added a free position goal and junior Carrie Aitken (Paxton, Mass./St. Mark's School) drove the cage for a score as Richmond led 4-1 with 22:23 remaining in the first half. Old Dominion would cut the margin to two (5-3) before Brandolini would record two more scores and in impressive fashion. She took a pass from junior Katie Chasney (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and skipped it in for the score (6-3). Fourteen seconds later, Aitken working the ball from behind the cage delivered the pass to Brandolini who put the Spiders ahead 7-3. Old Dominion would not go away quietly, scoring two goals in 27 seconds to cut the deficit. Richmond led 8-5 at the break

In the second half, the Lady Monarchs controlled the contest. Old Dominion grabbed seven of its 12 draw controls in the second half but even more important converted three free position shots. Wosczyna tied the game at 8-all when she converted her free position with 25:16 remaining. Jennifer Heister and Marlaine Smith added free position goals to pull the Lady Monarchs out to a 10-8 lead which they never relinquished.
