Field Hockey Match-Up With North Carolina Rescheduled

NORFOLK, VA -- The field hockey match reuniting Old Dominion and North Carolina, the participants in the 2000 NCAA Championship game, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 17th. Game time will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Chapel Hill, NC.
The game, originally schedule for September 15th was postponed in light of the national tragedy which occurred on September 11th in New York City and Washington D.C.
The Lady Monarchs and Tar Heels have recorded a large an extensive rivalry that dates back to their first ever match-up during the 1978 season. Old Dominion holds a 28-20-2 all-time record against the Tar Heels. Last season, the Lady Monarchs defeated North Carolina three times with a 1-0 and 2-1 overtime win during the regular season and a 3-1 victory in the championship game of the NCAA Tournament. In all, the Tar Heels and Lady Monarchs have squared away in NCAA Tournament action nine times over the last 16 years.
The Lady Monarch field hockey team will have a two-game road swing up in Storrs, CT facing BIG EAST powerhouse Connecticut and America East's New Hampshire, a team which received at at-large bid to last year's NCAA Tournament. It will mark the end of Old Dominion's six-game road stand as the Lady Monarchs return to Foreman Field to host CAA rival William and Mary on Friday, October 12th at 6:00 p.m. The Tarheels will come to Foreman Field on Saturday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m.
