Rodriguez Wins South Carolina Invitational

Columbia, SC - (Oct. 24) Old Dominion men's tennis player Hiero Rodriguez (Lima, Peru) captured an individual title at this year's University of South Carolina Fall Invitational held in Columbia, South Carolina October 22-24.

Rodriguez won four matches en route to his B-2 Singles Top Half championship. After a first round bye, Rodriguez defeated Joseph Lloyd of Erskine (7-6(4), 6-3) and Hart Pollack of Jacksonville (6-4, 6-3) in early round action.

Rodriguez continued through Saturday's action and defeated UNC-Greensboro's Paul Goode 7-6(4), 6-1 in semifinal play to earn a spot in Sunday's B-2 Top Half finals. There, he defeated Elorian Scheidat of Georgia Southern in come-from-behind fashion 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Rodriguez, as the B-2 Top Half champion, lost to B-2 Bottom Half champion Nigel Mitten of UNC-Greensboro 6-4, 6-2 in the B-2 overall championship.
