NORFOLK, VA -- Barb Jordan, the Chair of the US National Teams selection committee, announced that Old Dominion midfielder Suzanne Wosczyna (Phoenixville, PA) was among the 24 members selected to the 2004-2005 US Developmental Team. Tryouts were held over a two-day period at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. The team is under the direction of Sue Murphy, Head Coach of the US Developmental Team and the head lacrosse coach at the University of Richmond.
The team will participate in events leading up to the 2005 International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA) World Cup, which will be held in the USA at the United States Naval Academy. The trials for the 2005 USA World Cup team will take place in the fall of 2004.
Wosczyna, who is the second Lady Monarch to be named to the Developmental squad, was also a member of the developmental squad last season. Former ODU standout Takiyah Gettys (1995-98) was also a member of the U.S. Developmental squad in 1998. In past years, two Lady Monarchs have served on the national team, Barb DiArcangelo (1992-93) and Hall of Fame inductee, Ericka Davidheiser (1992-95).
