NORFOLK, VA. (April 24) - Old Dominion University Head Golf Coach, and 2000 CAA Coach of the Year Dr. Murray Rudisill announced April 24 that Jonathan Evans (Guildford, England) and Bobby Fournier (East Greenwich, RI.) have signed letters-of-intent. Both golfers will be incoming freshmen in the fall.

Evans is the 1999 Southeast Boys Champion in England. He reached the final 32 in the English Amateur and recently took fourth in the under 21 English Championships at the prestigious Rye Course.

He joins Geoffrey Harris (Reading, England and Stephen Richards (Great Missenden, England) who were freshmen on this year's Monarch squad. Harris was the CAA Rookie of the Year, the second straight year a Monarch newcomer has earned that honor.

Bobby Fournier recently reached the semi-finals of the Rhode Island- Massachusetts Junior Match Play Challenge Cup Tournament. He qualified to play in the U.S.Junior Amateur and the Junior World Classic.

Fournier took first in the Rhode Island Challenge Cup Junior Eliminator. He won five tournaments in 1999 and was a first team All-State selection. He took seventh at the AJGA in Hartford and is a member of the New England Rider Cup squad.

"Coach Rudisill has a very successful program and I am looking forward to playing at Old Dominion," said Fournier. He is the son of Bob and Andrea Fournier.

The 2000 Monarchs placed in the top ten in ten of their 12 tournaments this season. Last week, Old Dominion took third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in Richmond, Va. The Monarchs ranked 49th in the nation by Golfstat.
