Lady Monarchs Close Seaon With 2-1 Loss to GMU

The Old Dominion women's soccer team finished the 2002 season with a 2-1 loss to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe George Mason on Saturday night. The Patriots scored two goals in the last ten minutes to earn the come from behind victory.

Katy Robertson scored the game-winning goal with just over three minutes remaining to lead GMU to the win. Sarah Wilkinson got her the ball in the center of the box and Robertson nailed a shot in the upper right corner to break a 1-1 tie.

ODU junior Diane Baucom (Va. Beach, VA) broke open a scoreless game with her fourth goal of the year in the 53rd minute. Baucom took a lob pass from Maura Linz (Prospect, Kentucky) and headed in the ball to give the Lady Monarchs a 1-0 lead. The lead would hold up until the 81:41 mark when Mason's Kay McGee netted the tying goal when her shot deflected down off the crossbar and went in off a bounce.

ODU ends the year with a 5-12-1 overall record and a 2-6-1 conference mark. The Patriots head to the CAA tournament after a 8-10-0/6-2-0 campaign.
