Ashley Davis Finishes 24th at Women's Eastern Amateur

NEWTON CENTER, MA-- Junior golfer Ashley Davis (Ontario, Canada) shot a three-day score of 239 to finish tied for 24th at the 94th annual Women's Eastern Golf Association Amateur Championship. The tournament was played at the Charles River Country Club. 74 golfers participated.

Davis, tied Christina Pacacha of Williamsport, PA, and Mary Jane Hiestand from Naples, FL. Katie Stepanek of Guilford and Morgan Olds of Elon tied for first at 221, with Olds winning in a play-off.

Davis was tied for fifth after shooting even par 74 in the first round. Her complete tournament scores were 74-80-85 for 239. She was ODU's team MVP after leading the Lady Monarchs in six events this past season.

The Eastern is one of the oldest and most prestigious women's amateur championships in the United States. It is one of the few major women's amateur championships that is played in stroke-play format.
