Monarchs Sailors Close Out 1999 With Second Place Finish

CHARLESTON, SC (Nov. 21) -- Old Dominion's co-ed sailing team closed out a successful 1999 fall season with a second-place finish at the SAISA/MAISA District regatta today at the College of Charleston. Navy won the 14-team event with 30 points, followed by Old Dominion (51), Charleston 1 (65), Charleston 2 (72) and UMBC (86).

In A Division, Justin Castagne (Trinidad, West Indies) and Emily Ruiter (Freehold, NJ) finished in second place with 21 points for the Monarchs. Sailing in B Division, Tim Jansen (Osterville, MA) and Megan Bartley (Oak Park, IL) finished in third-place with 30 points.

The Monarch sailing teams return to action in February of 2000.
