April 22, 2005
NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to face the ninth ranked Tar Heels in their 2005 season finale. The game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. will be played on the grass of Fetzer Field.
The Lady Monarchs are looking to end the season on a high note after having dropped their last eight straight contests. Last season, Old Dominion snapped an eight-game winless streak at the end of the season with a 13-12 thriller over 17th-ranked William & Mary.
Two Lady Monarchs appeared in the national stats this week. Draw control specialist Katie Veneziale (Downingtown, Pa.) continues to shine in the category ranking 13th with 3.08 draws per game. Additionally classmate and ODU leading scorer Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) is ranked among the nation's leaders in groundballs. She is currently ranked ninth averaging 3.5 per contest.
The Tar Heels enter Saturday's contest with a record of 11-4 but lost their most recent outing, a 14-7 decision to No. 9 Maryland at Henry Stadium in Chapel Hill.
