GREENE PRE-SEASON ALL -CAA: Senior guard Pierre Greene was selected to the CAA pre-season men's basketball All-CAA team by the league's head coaches and media in attendance at media day on Oct. 31 in Baltimore, MD. As a team, the Monarchs were picked to finish seventh.
MONARCH INJURIES: Freshman T. J. Waldon (Lakeland, Fl.) will be out 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture of the third metatarsal bone in his left foot.
SERIES VS. UIC: Flames lead, 1-0. UIC defeated the Monarchs last year in Chicago, 73-60. Pierre Greene led ODU with 20 points in his hometown Joe Scott led UIC with 20 points. ODU trailed at halftime, 38-21.

DEFENSE All four Monarch opponents have shot under 50 percent from the floor. Virginia Tech was held to .298 shooting, the lowest since ODU held American to .259 shooting in 1996. The Hokies scored 19 points in the first half, the lowest since VMI was held to11 in 1982.
MONARCH EXHIBITION GAMES: ODU defeated E.A. All-Stars Southeast, 106-99 in overtime as Ricardo Marsh scored 25 points and hauled in 13 rebounds. ODU shot .473 from the floor and dominated the boards, 63-35. EA All-Stars later defeated North Carolina....
In the second exhibition game, ODU defeated Kentucky ABA, 89-82. Six Monarchs were in double figures. Pierre Greene led with 16 points, six assists and four steals. Ricardo Marsh hauled in 16 rebounds. ODU shot .576 from the floor. Kentucky ABA later beat Tennessee.
