April 28, 2011
NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's soccer will play 10 home games and feature another tough non-conference slate to highlight the 2011 schedule, head coach Joe Pereira announced Thursday.
The Lady Monarchs will open the season with a home exhibition contest against George Washington before opening the season with two-straight home games, hosting Hartford and East Carolina.
ODU hits the road for two-straight at NC State and Richmond before returning home on Sept. 4 to host Arizona State. It will be third ever meeting against the Sun Devils.
Old Dominion will hit the road for a two-game swing in South Carolina, taking on Coastal Carolina first and then traveling to College of Charleston.
The Lady Monarchs return home for the longest homestand since 2008 with four-straight. Radford comes to Norfolk on Sept. 18, followed by George Mason, Towson and UNC Wilmington wraps up the series on Sept. 29.
ODU heads to Atlanta to take on Georgia State on Oct. 2 before returning home October 7 and 9 to face Delaware and Drexel.
The Lady Monarchs hit the road for four-consecutive road games starting October 14 at Northeastern and ending October 23 at James Madison.
Old Dominion returns home for the regular-season finale against William and Mary on Oct. 28.
"It's a very challenging out of conference schedule, playing teams like East Carolina, NC State and Arizona State, the schedule will prepare us for conference play well," Pereira said. "We have 11 total home games, we need to take care of home field, that is the centerpiece of things."
