Greensboro, NC-The Old Dominion women's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the 2001 season this evening, falling 1-0 to UNC-Greensboro on the road. Old Dominion is now 0-1 on the season while 2000 NCAA qualifier UNCG is 1-0.

The lone score of the game came just before the half, when Spartans' forward Jaime Ableman put in a loose ball in front of the Lady Monarch net for the one goal lead. The two sides would trade scoring opportunities throughout the rest of the game, but Old Dominion couldn't get past UNCG goalie Kathryn Clewley.

The Lady Monarchs will return to action on Sunday, September 2, when they host the Radford Highlanders at 1 p.m.
