Monarch Swimming and Diving Eanrs Two CAA Performers of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, VA -Freshman diver Noah Scully (Virginia Beach, VA) and freshman swimmer Beatrice Szilard (Las Vegas, NV) won Colonial Athletic Association co-Performers of the Week Honors for men's and women's swimming, respectively, for the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Scully, who shares the award with Drexel's Anthony Perry, set a ODU school record for 1-meter diving Saturday against James Madison, scoring 246.67. Scully also took second in 3-meter diving with a score of 240.07 as the Monarchs fell to JMU 123-120.
Beatrice Szilard, the third Lady Monarch in a row to win the Performer of the Week honor, helped lead ODU to a 137-97 victory over JMU. Szilard won the 200-yard backstroke and was a part of the first place 400-yard medley relay team. Her time of 2:06.59 in the 200-yard backstroke is one of the fastest times recorded in the CAA this season.
Old Dominion swimming and diving is getting ready for the CAA Championships, that take place at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA Feb. 18-21.
