Post-Game Recap:

NORFOLK, Va. - Behind a well balanced attack and a season-high in goals on Friday night, the Old Dominion University women's lacrosse team snapped their eight game-losing streak with a 16-9 victory over George Mason at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Senior Night in the Lady Monarchs' final home game of the season.

Old Dominion (4-12, 2-4) had a season high in both goals (16) and assists (7) as nine Lady Monarchs scored. ODU outshot George Mason (5-10, 0-6) by a 40-24 margin, including 20-8 in the second half.

The Lady Monarchs jumped out to a quick lead as senior midfielder and team co-captain Jordynn Collins scored one of her career-high three goals on the night just 50 seconds into the contest on a feed from fellow senior attacker Meredith Rogers. After Mason tied it on a free position attempt, ODU went on a 5-0 run on goals from sophomore midfielder Christina Rea, sophomore midfielder Ashmore Standing, Rogers, senior midfielder Olivia Linehan and another goal from Collins to force a Patriot timeout with 18 minutes to play until halftime.

The Patriots would settle down as they scored four of the final five goals of the first half and went into break trailing the Lady Monarchs, 7-5.

Old Dominion exploded for five unanswered goals to start the second half and would salt the game away scoring eight of the first nine goals of the half to go in front, 15-6. Junior attacker Emily Austerberry would score three times while junior defender Kallie McCormick also scored along with Collins, Rogers, junior attacker Theresa Brady and the first two goals of redshirt freshman midfielder Morgan Gallagher's career as the Lady Monarchs outscored Mason after half, 9-4.

ODU had the 15-12 edge in draw controls and 23-16 advantage in groundballs while forcing 11 of Mason's 19 turnovers in the contest.

Collins and Austerberry each scored three times to power ODU while Rea and Gallagher each had a pair of goals. Rogers had two goals and two assists while senior midfielder Shelby Davis scooped up five groundballs, caused four turnovers and had a pair of draw controls. Sophomore goalkeeper Karen Hayde had six saves and a pair of groundballs.

For Mason, Allie Hilderbrandt led the way with a game-high four goals while Megan Bisson and Rachel Obregon each chipped in a pair of goals. In goal for the Patriots, Brittany Pastrana tallied 14 saves and six groundballs.

Old Dominion closes out the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they travel to Harrisonburg to battle James Madison at University Field.
