Wrestling Hosts Virginia in Regular-Season Finale

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University wrestling will compete in its final regular-season match of the season on Sunday, when they host Virginia at 4:30 p.m. in the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Old Dominion (7-11-1) wrestled UNC Greensboro and Binghamton last Sunday, beating UNCG 39-7 and falling to Binghamton 29-10.

The Monarchs are led by seniors James Nicholson and Kyle Hutter. Nicholson is No 4 in the country at 125 pounds and is 28-0 on the year. Nicholson leads the team with eight major decisions and six pins. Hutter, ranked 12th in the nation at 133, is 28-7 this season. He is second on the team with seven major decisions.

Brennan Brumley is third on the team with 21 victories and five pins, while Joe Budi has 17 and Tristan Warner has 16.

Virginia comes into the match with a 15-6 overall record. Chris Henrich leads the Cavaliers with a 28-1 record and is fourth in the country at 174. Redshirt freshman Jon Fausey is second on the team with 23 wins and is 14th in the country at 184. Mike Salopek (197), Matt Snyder (125) and Derek Valenti (149) are all ranked in the top-25.

Old Dominion will honor its five seniors before the match; the list includes Nicholson, Hutter, Joey Metzler, Jayk Cobbs and Dan Rivera.
